We’d be interested in hearing people’s views on the landfilling of waste tyres in new Zealand.
Tyres in any form are banned from landfills in the EU and many parts of North America. Tyres are nearly indestructible and do not break down. So they are in the ground for just about forever.
Waste Tyres can be recovered and reused. They can be processed down to rubber “crumb” (finely ground tyres) and used in sound barriers, pavement, playground matting etc... Tyres can also be used as fuel.
